Tesla battery test: which method suits your needs?
A test, a physical inspection and a report based on vehicle data answer different questions.
Tesla’s own battery health test
On supported vehicles, Tesla provides a battery health test in the vehicle’s service menu. Availability and instructions depend on the model and software. Follow the current owner’s manual for your car; the test has specific charging and time requirements.
A physical battery or vehicle inspection
Choose an appropriate workshop if you need a physical inspection, help with symptoms or a fault diagnosis. A digital reading cannot inspect the underside of the battery, find physical damage or confirm that the battery is dry.
A Batteribevis report
We read available vehicle data with your authorisation, review it and produce a dated report. It includes readings, sources, alert status and explanations, with a PDF and a shareable link. The report does not involve discharging the battery to measure its usable energy.
Before a private sale
A report can make available battery information easier for a buyer to understand. If the car has an active warning or a symptom, resolve the need for diagnosis separately. A report is not a guarantee or an overall condition certificate.
See Tesla’s Model 3 owner’s manual for current instructions for that model.
